Karkala: The Karnataka High Court has granted an interim stay in the case filed against sculptor Krishna Nayak of Krish Art World, who was accused of irregularities in the construction of a bronze statue of Parashurama atop Umikal Hill in Karkala taluk.
The FIR was registered by Karkala Town Police, and the matter was being heard in the Karkala JMFC (Judicial Magistrate First Class) Court.
Krishna Nayak had filed a petition seeking to quash the FIR and the ongoing proceedings in the lower court.
On Tuesday, the petition came up for hearing before a single bench of Justice M. Nagaprasanna. After hearing arguments from M. Arun Shyam, the counsel for the petitioner, the court granted an interim stay on the proceedings against Krishna Nayak and postponed the hearing to September 10.
