Parashurama Theme Park: Congress demands probe; BJP urges compliance if HC order

Congress and BJP sparred over the development of the Parashurama Theme Park in Karkala.

The Congress party has raised objections, asserting that the project should align with the sentiments of the coastal populace. The irregularities in the projects have hurt the sentiments of the coastal people, Congress leader Udaya Kumar Shetty Muniyalu said and urged an investigation by the government and district administration. He emphasized the need to ensure that the development adheres to public opinion.

Additionally, Congress leaders K. Krishnamurthy Acharya and Ramesh Kanchan demanded swift action against those found responsible for any wrongdoing after a thorough investigation.

In contrast, the BJP has insisted on compliance with a High Court order allowing the continuation of the project. Naveen Nayak, the president of BJP’s Karkala unit, emphasized the need for security to facilitate the project’s progress, highlighting alleged attempts by some Congress members to hinder the development.

The district Deputy Commissioner lacks the authority to halt the progress of the Parashurama Theme Park in defiance of the High Court’s directive, he claimed.

During a press briefing, it was emphasized that the court’s mandate required statue designers to commence work as of May 3. However, a climate of fear prevails in the area, he said, calling for the DC to ensure sufficient security measures and enable the project to proceed unimpeded.
