Parents cover boy’s body in salt to revive him from death

Ballari: In a gut-wrenching incident, the parents of a 10-year-old boy who died by drowning, covered in salt in the hopes that he could be revived.

The incident took place in Sirivara village of hte district on Monday, September 5.

The deceased has been identified as Suresh (10), a resident of Sirivara village. The boy, who had gone for a swim with his friends, drowned in the pond as he could not swim.

His distraught parent who reached the spot could not accept his passing. Believing in a clip on social media that falsely claimed that the dead can be revived by covering them in a heap of salt, the parents bought 5 sacks of salt and covered the dead body with it except for the head.

They waited for several hours for the boy to wake up. However, nothing happened. Realising that their son was no more, the parents later held his final rites.

The photos of the boy’s body covered in slat are going viral on social media. No case has been registered in this regard so far.
