Parking in no-parking zone: Cop penalised twice the amount as per MV Act

Bengaluru: Days after enforcement of the amended Motor Vehicles Act in the state, a traffic inspector had pay twice the penalty amount for parking a vehicle in the no-parking zone.
The inspector, Shivakumar who is attached to Sadashivanagar police station was caught violating the traffic rules on Thursday, September 12 by parking his government car in no parking zone here, thus obstructing the smooth movement of vehicles.
As per the amended act, any offense committed by enforcing authorities attracts twice the penalty under the relevant section.
When the offense was brought to knowledge of joint police commissioner (traffic division) of the city, B R Ravikanthe Gowda, he penalised the officer Rs 2000 which is twice the fine for the offense.
