Bantwal: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) held its ‘Sankalpa’ conference of Mysuru division Congress workers at an auditorium in the city’s BC Road on January 6.
Speaking after inaugurating the conference, KPCC President DK Shivakumar said that the Congress has decided to make the present year as a year of struggle, so the struggle should be organized at the grass-root level.
“The party has to be built by leaders willing to participate in the struggle for local issues. I have accepted this position as a position of responsibility and not as a position of authority. The voice of our party workers is the voice of the KPCC president,” he added.
“I will be travelling to about 150 constituencies this time to work for building our party,” he said.
Before entering the auditorium Shivakumar speaking to reporters said that former chief minister Siddaramaiah’s statement on beef is his personal opinion and not that of the party’s. Adding that the government’s anti-cow slaughter ordinance was not necessary and was implemented only for political motives.
The conference was attended by the leader of opposition in the assembly Siddaramaiah, Vidhan Sabha opposition leader SR Patil, KPCC working president Salim Ahmed, AICC secretary Vishnunathan, former minister UT Khader, Dakshina Kannada district Congress president and Vidya Parishad member Harish Kumar, MLCs Narayana Swamy, BK Hariprasad, UB Venkatesh, Vinayakumar Sorake, BL Shankar, Dhruvanarayana, VS Ugrappa, DK Taradevi, Pushpa Amarnath, Tanvir Seth, Youth Congress president Mithun Rai, Chandrasekhar C, Motamma and others.
