Passenger train collides with goods train near Chennai, Coaches catch fire

A tragic accident occurred when an express train collided with a stationary goods train, leading to a fire in two passenger coaches. At least six coaches of the passenger train derailed, and reports indicate that several passengers sustained injuries.

The incident involved the 12578 Mysuru-Darbhanga Express, which crashed into the goods train at 8:50 PM in Kaveripakkam, on the outskirts of Chennai. Authorities have deployed teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and dispatched ambulances to the site, where rescue operations are currently underway.

Tiruvallur District Collector T. Prabhushankar stated that primary details regarding the extent of damage and casualties are still awaited.
