Passenger train services on Padil-Kulasekhara railway stretch restored

Mangaluru: Train services on Padil-Kulasekhara railway section was restored on Saturday, August 31 nearly a week after it was closed for repair works.

Train services on Padil and Mangaluru section was closed since August 23 night following a landslide.

A track fit certificate was issued by the authorities concerned after operating two goods train on the section, whereafter Train No 12618 Nimamuddin – Ernakulam Mangala Express was allowed to pass through the section at around 4.20 pm on Saturday

According to officials from Palakkad Division, train services will begin normally in two days. In the first phase, the passenger trains and intercity trains between Madgaon and Mangaluru Central will resume from Sunday. Madgaon – Mangaluru Central DEMU, which was operated till Tokur, will be operated from Mangaluru Central from Sunday onwards. Next, the Madsyaganda Express between Mangaluru Central and Mumbai LT will be operated from Mangaluru Central from Sunday onwards.
