Patna: Surgeons at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences here removed a cricket ball-sized mucormycosis fungus, also called Black Fungus, from the brain of a 60-year-old man on Friday.
It was reported that the fungus spread from the nose of the man to his brain.
He had recently recovered from COVID-19.
The fungal infection occurs in those with weak immunity due to co-morbidity and those recovering from COVID-19.
