In a significant political development, Janasena party MLAs have elected Pawan Kalyan as the floor leader in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly. This decision was made on Tuesday, ahead of the NDA legislators’ crucial meeting.

The move is set against the backdrop of an impending choice to appoint TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu as the NDA leader in the House. Janasena’s Tenali legislator, N Manohar, proposed Kalyan’s name, which received unanimous support from other party members, according to sources within the party.

Janasena holds 21 seats in the 175-member Assembly. During the recent elections, the NDA secured a landslide victory in Andhra Pradesh, capturing a majority of 164 assembly seats.
