Pejawar Swamiji calls for independent temple trusts to protect Hindu faith

Despite 75 years of independence, many ancient temples, including prominent ones, remain under government control, which is damaging the faith of Hindus, according to Pejawar Matha’s Sri Vishwaprasanna Teertha Swamiji.

He urged the formation of independent trusts for all temples, similar to the model of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir.

Speaking at a press conference in Mangaluru, Swamiji emphasized that despite the Supreme Court’s directive to hand over Hindu temples to the community, the continued government control over these sacred places is leading to various issues that harm the faith of devotees. He insisted that the government must comply with the court’s decision and transfer the management of temples to independent trusts representing the Hindu community.

Swamiji also highlighted the recent Tirupati Laddu controversy, stressing that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure that such sacred offerings remain pure and untainted. He called for the establishment of temple-owned cattle farms (goshalas) to maintain the sanctity of religious practices. Only by creating vigilant, self-sufficient centers can Hindu traditions and faith be preserved. Swamiji urged the government to take immediate steps toward these reforms to prevent any further disrespect to religious institutions.
