Mangaluru: The mercury is on the rise in the coastal region and has been reeling under the intense summer heat. On Tuesday, people were seen huffing and puffing in the sweltering heat.
The temperature, which usually averages at around 35 degrees celsius in March, is quickly rising. The foggy weather at dawn clears as soon as the sun rises and the heat shoots up as the day progresses. The intense heat stays too warm for comfort till late at night. The lack of sea breeze also makes matters worse, locals say.
As per the weather experts, The present conditions are expected to continue for a few more days. The present weather is sure to impact the pre-monsoon weather pattern witnessed on the Karavali coast.
There is a high probability of showers in March third or fourth week. The drop in pressure and high evaporation could produce convectional rainfall in pockets along the coast, they said.
The meteorological department has forecasted rainfall between March 19 and 24.
