Mangaluru: Just days ahead of Assembly bypolls former minister UT Khader on Wednesday said that people of the state should teach a lesson to all the disqualified MLAs by not voting them.

Addressing press conference here he said, “The disqualified MLAs have cheated people by resigning from their post, so now it’s time for the people to teach them a lesson by not voting to them and make sure that all the disqualified MLAs lose the election.”

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court upheld K R Ramesh Kumar’s decision to disqualify 17 rebel Congress-JD(S) MLAs under the anti-defection law and said that they can contest the upcoming by-elections in the state.

Condemning the attack on Congress MLA Tanveer Sait he urged the government to investigate the matter properly.

Congress MLA Tanveer Sait was attacked by a man with a knife at a wedding in Mysuru on Sunday night. The 52-year-old Narasimharaja constituency MLA was immediately rushed to a hospital in Mysuru where he underwent surgery. Hospital sources said his condition was serious and he is undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit.
