People witness R-Day celebrations amid drizzle

New Delhi: People braved chilly weather and a light rain to witness the Republic Day celebrations at Rajpath in the national capital today.

The skies were overcast in the morning and later there was a drizzle. The minimum temperature was recorded at 12.5 degrees Celsius, five notches above the season’s average.

The weatherman has predicted generally cloudy skies through the day with light rain or drizzle.

The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 20 degrees Celsius.

Rail traffic was affected as 23 trains were reported to be running late by several hours while three were cancelled and one was rescheduled, a railway official said.

Air quality was very poor.

Yesterday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 25.1 and 12.5 degrees Celsius respectively.
