Bengaluru: Defending the state government’s decision to restrict the seating capacity in theatre at 50 percent, Health Minister Dr Sudhakar on Wednesday said that the issue must not be politicised.
“Theatres being a closed and airconditioned space, the risk of spreading of infection is on the higher side. Priority has to be given to people’s health than entertainment,” said Sudhakar.
He also added that the decision had been taken as per the suggestions of the Technical Advisory Committee. Accordingly, till February 28, theatres are allowed to function with 50 percent occupancy.
“It is the government’s responsibility to control the spread of the virus. Doing politics over the issue is not right. Any further decision on the matter will be taken after discussion with the chief minister and Technical Advisory Committee, he said.
