Bengaluru: Cybercrime police have arrested a person for sending obscene messages to women on social media by impersonating a famous Bengaluru-based gynecologist.

The accused, identified as Jagadish (32) a native of Kanchikoppa in Davanagere, had created a fake Facebook profile of renowned gynecologist Dr. Padmini Prasad and used it to harass women, Bengaluru North CEN police said.

Posing to be Dr. Prasad, the accused posted messages about professional advice on ‘intimate issues’ of women. He chatted with anyone who contacted him on Messenger and during the course of the conversation, he sent indecent voice messages and obscene photos to them, police added.

On February 17 this year, Dr. Padmini Prasad had lodged a complaint that unidentified persons had created her fake Facebook account. Based on a technical investigation, Jagadish was apprehended from his native village, police said.
