Udupi: Amid debate on petrol and diesel price hike, Former Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake on Tuesday said that there must be a separate counter in petrol bunks for ‘patriots’ who defend fuel hike to buy petrol at Rs 200
Speaking to the reporters here, Sorake said, ” Fuel prices have increased due to government tax. It has increased the cost of transport and prices of essential commodities. Also, the government’s recent Vehicle scrappage policy is aimed to make vehicle companies prosper and has affected vehicle owners”
“Several government-owned organizations are being privatized. This shows the failure of the government as many will lose their jobs. Also, even after 110 days, PM Modi has not bothered to respond properly to farmers’ protest,” he added
Talking about Kaup north zone block Congress committee’s ‘Janadhwani’ protest rally, Sorake said, ” Janadhwani’ protest rally will be held on March 25 from Perdoor to 80 Badagubettu. The rally will be a foot march held to create awareness among the people regarding the government’s anti-people policies. It will start at 9.30 am and will conclude in front of Badagubettu panchayat office at 5 pm.”
Reacting to allegations regarding misunderstandings within the Congress party, he said, ” All are united in Congress but there are misunderstandings between several BJP leaders such as Lalaji Mendon, Yashpal Suvarna, Suresh Shetty Gurme, Kuilady Suresh Nayak, Mattar Rathnaker Hegde etc”
