Bengaluru: Rural Development Minister KS Ishwarappa said that a project to make every house in all the villages of the state have drinking water delivered through their taps will be taken up under the “Mane Manegu Gange” scheme in cooperation with the central government.
Participating in a dialogue held at the Bangalore office of Udayavani, he further said that the implementation of this scheme will be easier in villages where a drinking water supply scheme already exists. It will be implemented as soon as possible in villages where any drinking water project is not yet implemented.
He also added that in light of the accusations of irregularities and mismanagement in the operations of the drinking water dispensing units, the state government will no longer install these units. A new system would be created for the management of the existing units and the installation and operations of new units will be entrusted to private agencies as the Supreme Court has also said that clean drinking water dispensing units should be installed only in areas where the water being supplied is contaminated.
