Plan to achieve 100% vaccination by December-end: Udupi DC

Udupi: After successfully reaching 101 percent of its target for administering the first dose Covid-19 vaccines. Udupi district administration has set a lofty target of achieving 100 percent targets for the second dose by December-end, said deputy commissioner Kurma Rao M. on Thursday, October 7.
Addressing the media, the DC said that 9,08,618 persons have got the first jab in the district as against the revised target of 9,01,568. Out of these, 4,38,324 (48.6%) have already got their second dose of vaccine. The Karnataka health minister has appreciated the performance of the district’s vaccination program, he added.
Positivity rate falls below 1 percent
As per the reports on October 6, Udupi takes the eighth spot for the number of active covid patients in the state. The positivity rate is slowly declining. In the past 14 days, the average positivity rate was 1.1 percent and in the last 7 days, it has dipped to 0.9 percent. The district administration is trying to get the positivity rate down to zero.
As many as 21,906 covid suspects were tested during the last one week at an average of 3,129 daily tests, he added.
Passengers arriving from Kerala and Maharashtra are being allowed to enter the district only on producing COvid negative reports done within 72 hours of starting their journey. He said the newly diagnosed Covid patients are treated at either the hospital or covid care centers.
Max. 400 people allowed for Navratri festivities
To control the spread of Covid, not more than 400 can congregate at a place during Navratri celebrations that will be held from October 7 to October 15. Everyone must observe strict social distancing. The deputy commissioner instructed the temple management, priests, officials to strictly follow covid appropriate behavior.
Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr. Naveen Bhat, SP Vishnuvardhan, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu were also present.
