Plans to build 2 gaushalas/taluk under discussion says Min Chauhan

Bidar: Minister for Animal Husbandry Prabhu Chauhan stated that plans to build two gaushalas for every taluk in the State to protect cows are under discussion.
Speaking in a news conference on Saturday, he said there are currently 164 government and private gaushalas in the State. In view of the anti-cow slaughter ordinanace being implemented in the State there is a need to increase the number of gaushalas to facilitate the preservation and protection of cows.
“No bird flu cases have been found in the State so far. However, I have instructed the Animal Husbandry Department officials to be vigilant. As soon as cases are reported, necessary preparations for disease control, including blood testing, have been made,” he added.
Responding to a query, the minister said that the necessary grants for the lifeblood of farmers in Bidar district – the Bidar Cooperative Sugar factory – will be released after a meeting between elected representatives from the district and the chief minister.
