Mangaluru: The senior officials of RTO have proposed of starting a call centre to listen to grievances and provide quick response. It will be initiated soon, informed Jhon Misquith, Senior Motor Vehicle Inspector and in-charge Assistant Regional Transport Officer, on Tuesday.

He was speaking at the ‘Jana Spandana’ programme conducted at the transport office and said that this issue had been discussed at the central committee meeting held in Bengaluru recently. The point on how through call centres, complaints can be registered immediately and it will be possible to respond has been discussed, he said.

Social worker Hasanabba Ammembala spoke and said,” It has been over a month after the Lokayukat judge ordered to construct temporary bus shelters at pre-designated place from Lady Goshen to light house hill road. The district administration or the MCC has not taken any action about this,” he said. Jhon Misquith responded and said, “A letter will be written to the district administration and MCC in this regard.”

Demand for 2 seat reservation for senior citizens

“The seat reserved for senior citizens must be increased to two seats. If other sit on the reserved seat, along with the conductor, the one taking the seat must also be fined,” demanded Hasanabba.

G.K. Bhat spoke and said that due to the installation of vehicle code software; only 30 individuals will be given L.L.R. per day. Now, one has to wait for quite some time to get a license, he said. The RTO replied to this and said that after the installation of ‘Sarathi 4’ software, this issue has come into existence. This has happened nationally. Since the software is a new one, once the staff get accustomed to it, the problem will be solved, he said.
