Platelet concentrates to be provided to BPL patients for free till Aug 31: Red Cross Society

Mangaluru: The DK district branch of the Indian Red Cross Society has announced that platelet concentrates will be provided for free of cost to BPL patients from the blood bank functioning at the premises of Government Lady Goshen Hospital till August 31, 2019.

Red Cross Society district president C A Shanthram Shetty said that the Society has been running a blood bank at the Government Lady Goshen Hospital and issuing blood to the patients of the hospital for free of cost.

“Considering the seriousness of dengue viral fever, the Red Cross Society has decided to provide platelet concentrates free of cost for BPL patients undergoing medication at various other hospitals as well. Platelet will be given at the cost of Rs 200 to non-BPL dengue patients admitted in any hospital. This concession will be available up to August 31,” informed Mr Shetty.

Informing that there is no substitute for blood, which gives life to others, Mr Shetty requested the public to donate blood voluntarily.
