PM Modi departs for SCO Summit, won’t use Pak airspace

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi who left to attend the two-day Shanghai Cooperation Organisation or SCO summit, which is being held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on Thursday morning chose to travel via Oman, Iran, and central Asian countries to reach his destination.

This move by the centre is seen as a snub to Islamabad which said its airspace was open for the VVIP flight. Pakistan had closed its airspace in February after the Balakot air strikes.

Meanwhile the foreign ministry has ruled out any bilateral meet between PM Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan, both of who will come face to face for the first time at the meet.
