POCSO case registered at Amasebailu; Accused absconding

Kundapura: A POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case was registered in the jurisdiction of the Amasebailu police station on May 18. The accused is currently absconding, and there is no information regarding any video recording or threats made through such videos, clarified Udupi District Superintendent of Police, Dr. Arun K.
“We do not have any information about the accused making a video or using such videos to threaten or harass others in the past,” the SP said.
In the statement given by the victim to the judge, it was revealed that both the accused and the victim belong to the same community and have been in contact for some time. However, there was no mention of any video recording in the statement. “The accused’s laptop has been seized, and we will gather information and records from it,” he added.
In the complaint, Shreyas Naik (25) has been accused of molesting and repeatedly sexually assaulting a PUC student in a deserted area of Heggodlu on Haladi Road. It is also alleged that he obscene photos of the victim. At present, the accused is absconding.
