Police Arrest 2 Maharashtrians as Duo Dispose Dead Body of Rape Victim in Belagavi

Belagavi/Mumbai: Ratnagiri police arrested two youths inconnection with rape and murder of their friend at Ambernath in Mumbai on Wednesday. The accused Niklesh Patil (24) and Akshay Valodhe (25) raped their fried, call centre techie, Nagpur native, Ankitha (22) and kept the dead body in a suitcase and threw into a ditch located adjacent to national highway near Rani Channamma University in Belagavi in an attempt to hide their crime. The father of the deceased works at police headquarters in Nagpur as an Assistant Sub Inspector.

The accused raped the lady when trio were travelling in a vehicle near Ambernath. The duo murdered the rape victim as she could register complaint against them for their crime. The incident came into light when a car driver asked the duo the reason for throwing the suitcase. Drunken youths subsequently revealed the truth to the driver. Based on the information the car driver informed the police and police arrested the duo based on the information.
