Police arrest BJP leader in Kalburgi while attending party executive meeting

Kalburgi: In an embarrassment to Karnataka BJP unit, the Bengaluru Upparpet police have arrested BJP National SC Morcha member Venkatesh Mourya on Saturday when he was attending state BJP executive meeting being organised in Kalburgi.

The BJP leader was arrested in a money cheating case. The woman who was allegedly cheated by him had filed a complaint against the arrested at Upparpet police station in 2011. However, he was absconding after a talk between the woman and him failed. 

The police after a tip-off arrived at Kalburgi where the accused was expected to participate in the party meeting. Venkatesh is expected to brought to Bengaluru for further questioning as he was absconding for a long time. Further details awaited.
