Police arrest chain snatcher; seize gold ornaments worth Rs 1.55 lakh

Mangaluru: Surathkal police have arrested a chain snatcher and seized gold ornaments worth Rs 1.55 lakh from his possession on Saturday, October 27th. The arrested has been identified as Habeeb Hasan alias Habbi alias Habeeb (39), son of Ahmed, a resident of Chembugudde in Permannur village, Thokkottu.
With the arrest of the chain snatcher, Surathkal police have solved two chain snatching cases which occurred between September 10th and 12th in their limits.
According to sources from Surathkal police station, the accused had snatched the Mangalasutra of Sanjeevi (55), a resident of Katipalla when she was returning from a shop on September 10th. The accused was also involved in another case of snatching of Mangalasutra of a woman on September 12th.
Modus Operandi
Police inform that the Habeeb and his friend used to travel on their motorcycles and target women walking alone. However, the friend of the accused remains to be nabbed.
The arrested accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
