Police arrest man who attacked his wife

Udupi: Police arrested Santhosh Poojary at Bhatkal Railway Station on Tuesday.

The accused Santhosh Poojary(27) was arrested on charges of attempt to murder case.

Santhosh attacked his wife Anushree with lethal weapons when she was walking back home. Anushree was in critical condition and is undergoing treatment at KMC Manipal hospitals here.

Search operation was conducted on orders of Udupi district SP Laxman Nimbargi under the guidance of additional SP Kumar Chandra and Karkala ASP Hrishikesh Sonavani.

A police team had gone to Mumbai in search of Santosh as he was working there. They could not get any leads there. Meanwhile, police were tracking his mobile phone details and traced him at Bhatkal. On Tuesday, a team went to Bhatkal and arrested him.

Anushree’s proceeding for divorce due to differences, is said to be the cause of the assault.

Santosh will be produced in court on Wednesday.
