Police arrest youth attempting to sell fake jewellery

Mangaluru: Mangaluru city police arrested a person who was trying to sell fake jewellery and recovered 900 grams.

Based on credible information, after receiving details from a shop owner of a man attempting to sell fake jewellery, personnel from Ullal police station headed by PI Gopikrishna K R raided the place and nabbed the accused – Praveen Veera Rathore, 21 of Nithyananda Nagar, Ramtek in Nagpur.

DCP (law and order) Hanumantraya in a release said that the shop owner at the commercial complex was suspicious about the accused who was attempting to sell jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh for mere Rs 3 lakh.

Police nabbed Praveen and booked a case under Sections 420, 511 read with 34 of IPC and thereby busted a racket that involved selling fake jewellery, the DCP said.
