Police conduct surprise inspection in Mangaluru prison

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Police, led by the Commissioner of Police, conducted a surprise raid on the Mangaluru City Jail Barracks on Thursday, July 25.
The operation, which commenced at 4 AM, involved a coordinated effort by 2 DCPs, 3 ACPs, 15 PIs, and approximately 150 personnel.
Multiple teams were strategically deployed to cover all blocks of the jail simultaneously, with the secrecy of the raid maintained until the last moment to ensure its effectiveness.
During the search, authorities seized a significant amount of contraband, including 25 mobile phones, 1 Bluetooth device, 5 earphones, 1 pen drive, 5 chargers, 1 pair of scissors, 3 cables, and multiple packets of ganja and other drugs.
This operation underscores the department’s ongoing commitment to maintaining security and preventing illegal activities within the jail. Further investigations are underway to determine how these items were smuggled into the facility.
