Police convince runaway student to return home

Mangaluru: Bajpe Police Probationary Sub Inspector Anita Nikkam and Police officer Devappa Hosamani have convinced a college student wandering around the city in midnight and escorted him to his home safely on December 31.
The student, a resident of Handelu, Todaru studying in a college at Moodbidri. SI Anita Nikkam and Devappa Hosamani noticed him wandering at 2:45 am. When they asked about his whereabouts, he did not respond initially. However, the police managed to collect his address and his mother’s phone number after half an hour of interrogation.
The boy reportedly confessed that he fled from home as he doesn’t want to study.
Later the police contacted his mother and escorted him home safely. The boy’s mother thanked police for their work. Meanwhile, the news has gone viral on social media and netizens have praised the police.
