Police nab notorious thief

Bantwal: A notorious thief who is wanted in several cases including the theft at Chowta Indane Gas Agency at Kadegoli, Farangipet in the taluk on January 10 has been arrested by the personnel from Bantwal Rural police station. The accused is identified as Prasad Poojary (28) from Moodbidri. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
It is learnt that Prasad is a habitual thief and cultivated the habit since a very young age. Of the many cases he faces, he has been sentenced to three years in prison in one of the case.
Thief located
The accused had booked a room in a lodge at Thokkottu but failed to visit the room for 4-5 days. Hence the lodge owner informed the cops of the same and the door was opened in the presence of the police. Within the room, the cops found cell phone and pen drives which on verification revealed that Prasad had been imprisoned in a theft case earlier.
Thief arrested
After some days, Prasad returned back to the lodge and the lodge owner immediately alerted the police. The personnel from Kankanady police station rushed to the location and nabbed the accused. During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had recently committed thefts at Chowta Gas Agency, Toyota showroom at Padil and two mobile phone shops in Mangaluru city.
The police seized the stolen phone in possession of the accused who also revealed that he had stolen the cash to repay pending loan.
Police Circle Inspector Sharanye Gowda is guiding the investigation which is still in progress.
