Police nab two accused of ‘Saral Vaastu’ Guruji murder

Hubbali: Pertaining to the “Saral Vaastu” fame Dr. Chandrashekhar Guruji murder case, the Hubbali Police, in a swift action, arrested alleged murderers, here on Tuesday.

As per the police sources, the accused are identified as Mahantesh Shiroor and Manjunath Marewada, both residents of Dhummawad village of Kalghatgi taluk, Dharwad district.

Reportedly, the police team led by Inspector Jagadish Hanchinal had received information from a credible source that the duo was travelling in a car toward the Belagavi district. Both were nabbed and are now being brought to Hubbali city for further investigation.

Earlier, on Tuesday noon, two men disguised as devotees of Dr. Chandrashekhar Guruji had come to meet the latter at a private hotel near Unkal Lake. Pretending as if bowing down to the feet to seek blessings, both began attacking with daggers. As per the CCTV footage accessed by the police, Guruji was stabbed nearly 60 times on various parts of his body. Due to heavy blood loss, he died instantaneously. The duo had fled the spot immediately after the killing.

Later, the body was moved to KIMS Hospital for post-mortem.

Speaking to the media, State Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said that he had directed the Hubbali Police to swiftly nab the accused. He had also said that Hubbali-Dharwad Police Commissioner Labhu Ram had already created teams to hunt the murderers. The minister had assured of nabbing the duo in an hour or two.
