Bengaluru: The Police have cracked down on suspects on murder of former BBMP corporator and JD(S) leader Govinde Gowda at Hegganahalli cross on Saturday.

Govinde (58) was chased and hacked to death in broad daylight by a 15 men 200 metres from his residence in Hegganahalli, North Bengaluru, on Saturday.

“The reason is old rivalry, with one gang taking revenge for a hit ordered by Gowda in 2016 on a politician,” said the police.

In November 2016, Gowda and his wife were arrested for allegedly hiring men to kill Chikka Thimme Gowda, a local BJP leader.

Police have detained three suspects on this case and further probe is on.
