Police thwart robbery plan by interstate gang; four arrested

Udupi: Udupi police have arrested four persons who had planned to commit multiple robberies. The accused were nabbed at Kinnimulki Junction on Tuesday April 2. The arrested are identified as Shyam, Venkatesh alias Venkat, Rakesh alias Rakesh Kumar and Gopi.

An operation to nab the accused was conducted at 4 pm by Udupi police based on credible information that a gang of 5 members were scheming to execute robberies.

The five accused spoke in Tamil and Hindi languages and were allegedly planning robberies by using some itching powder, thereby diverting the attention of their victims, inform police sources.

The plan of the accused by foiled the police when the four accused were nabbed. However, the fifth accused made good his escape. It is learn that the accused possessed three identity cards each and belonged to a gang from Chittur in Hyderabad.

During the operation the police seized two monkey caps, face mask, bag, five mobile phones, slingshot, itching powder, identity cards, Aadhaar card and three bikes. A case in this connection has been registered with Udupi city police.
