Udupi: The Udupi police have warned jewellers to be cautious of a gang of persons who recently duped a jeweller in Koppa taluk of Chikkamagaluru by purchasing gold jewellery while opting for an online payment mode.

The gang is said to have arrived in Udupi hours after cheating the Koppa jeweller on Monday, September 30.

As per the complaint lodged by the jeweller the gang arrived in a car and purchased jewellery and paid via online mode, however, the money never got credited to his account. Upon investigation, it was found that their car had a fake registration number.

The Udupi police department has urged the public to inform them if they come across any suspicious-looking gang of people.
