Policeman arrested for extorting money from drug peddler

Bengaluru: A policeman along with seven of his acquaintances was arrested by police for attempting to kidnap a drug dealer and extort money.
The incident took place on January 20. The accused police man is identified as Babu. Babu is a head constable the Karnataka State Intelligence. He had formed a gang and conducted a fake raid on drug dealer named Monhammed Nousheen at his room in a paying guest accommodation.
On January 20, two constables on night patrol Krishanppa and Ashwath Reddy spotted three people beating up Nousheen for not giving them money. Nousheen told the police that the gang led by Babu had barged into his room in Lottegollahalli around 9.30 pm and found ganja in the cupboard. Babu showed Nousheen his ID card and demanded Rs 3 lakh as fine. He threatened to file a case if he didn’t pay the ransom.
He told the police that the gang agreed not to file case after Nousheen paid them Rs.40000. the gang took Rs.15000 in cash and snatched away his iPhone.
Based on the information provided by Nousheen, the police arrested Babu and his associates from his residence in Indiranagar. The police also seized an auto rickshaw used to abduct Nousheen and recovered 80gm of ganja seized from him.
