Postcard campaign against EVM by district women’s Cong

Mangaluru: A silent protest against the use of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in elections was observed by the members of DK District Women’s Congress who also launched a Postcard campaign on Wednesday June 26. The members protested y holding placards asking EVMs to be removed from the election system and the reintroduction of ballot papers.

President of the District Mahila Congress Shalet Pinto said that the people have no trust in democracy since the introduction of EVMs as the machines can be tampered. Since developed countries are still dependent on ballot papers EVMs should be removed and ballot papers must be reintroduced.

She also informed that postcard campaign has been started throughout the state against the use of EVMs and over 1 lakh postcards will be sent to the President of India urging him to remove EVMs from the electoral system.
