Udupi: Veteran Congress leader Veerappa Moily on Saturday, August 31 said that former minister Pramod Madhwaraj is presently a member of the JDS party and his membership with Congress party was canceled automatically after he obtained B Form of another political party.
Responding to a query posed to him during the press meet held here at Congress Bhavan, Moily clarified that if Madhwaraj wishes to be a Congress member, he would need to apply for party membership since he is a primary member of the JD(S) party as of now.
It may be recalled that Madhwaraj had procured the B form of the JD(S) party to contest the recent Lok Sabha elections on JD(S) ticket from the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency.
Reacting to mega-merger of public sector banks, four of which originate from the coastal district Moily said that the move is helping the corporate sector. “In future, foreign banks will open their branches in India,” he added.
Congress leaders Harsha Moily, Vinay Kumar Sorake and others were present.
