Praveen Nettaru

Puttur: The alleged prime accused in the BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM) member Praveen Nettaru’s murder has been reportedly arrested in Kerala’s Talasheri, sources claimed.

The special team of Karnataka police investigating the sensational murder has taken a resident of Paral into custody, sources added.  The police team, with help from their counterparts in Kerala, also searched the house of the accused. However, the police have kept the information confidential in view of the investigation, sources added.

Two accused, Zakir and Shafiq, who were arrested recently on charges of supplying information to the killers, were produced before the court. They have been remanded to police custody until August 3.

Moreover, 28 persons of interest have been detained and questioned in connection with the case.

NIA team arrives

Mangaluru: A team of NIA (National Investigation Agency) sleuths has already arrived in the district to investigate the Praveen Nettaru murder case, sources said.

This is the first time that a case of communal hatred in Dakshina Kannada is being investigated by the NIA.

As per available information, some officials including an SP of NIA have arrived in the district following CM Basavaraja Bommai’s July 29 announcement about handing Praveen murder case to the NIA.
