President Describes Diamond Jubilee of Vidhana Soudha as Historic Event

Bengaluru: “Diamond jubilee celebration of Vidhana Soudha is one of the memorable, historic events in the history of the country. It is also a major event of independent democratic India”, said Indian President Ram Nath Kovind speaking in the special session of Karnataka legislature organised as part of the diamond jubilee celebrations of Vidhana Soudha here on Wednesday.  

President recalled the contribution of Karnataka to science, technology, arts, religion, culture and others. He also recalled the contribution of Sir M Visvesvaraya, Kalburgi Sufi saints, all former chief ministers of the state and others on the occasion.

Earlier, Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah, chairman of the state legislative council DH Shankara Murthy, the speaker of the state legislative assembly KB Koliwad received the president at the portico of the east gate entrance.

Leaders of opposition Jagadish Shettar, KS Eshwarappa, Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation DV Sadananda Gowda, former chief ministers HD Kumaraswamy , Dr M Veerappa Moily,  members of state council of ministers and others were present in the special session.
