Mangaluru: A blunder by the jail officials of the prison here led to the release of two murder accused from the jail even though the accused had not received any bail in the first place.
The released prisoners were Shivaji, a resident of Kadri George Martis road and Jagadish, a resident of Kandettu, both of whom were accused in the murder case of Kadri Rohit Kotiyan who was murdered near KSRTC bus stand on May 14th 2016.
The two accused had received a court notice which the jail officials presumed to be bail and hence procured permission from the Superintendent and released the accused on July 9th. Interestingly, the release process was completed as per the bail rule.
The released accused later went to their respective lawyers. On this occasion, the advocates were perplexed and brought the lapse to the notice of the court. Eventually, the jail officials visited the homes of the accused and took the accused back into custody.
