Prices of essential commodities soar since Cong govt’s formation in Karnataka: MLA Kamath

Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyasa Kamath has raised serious concerns over the ever-increasing prices of essential commodities since the Congress government came into power in Karnataka. He stated that the rising costs have made the lives of common people unbearable, and he accuses the government of profiteering at the expense of the public.
MLA Kamath stated, “Despite the government’s claims of implementing beneficial schemes like Gruha Jyothi, the reality is far from promising. Instead of providing relief, the government has hiked the electricity tariffs, burdening the people even further.”
He further criticized the state government’s claim of providing free rice, saying, “While they boast about this initiative, the price of milk has been raised by Rs three per litre. This is tantamount to looting approximately Rs 1000 from each household every month.”
Regarding the escalating cost of rice, Kamath highlighted, “The price has witnessed a significant increase from Rs 38-40 per kilogram to a staggering Rs 50 in just three months. Such substantial price hikes are taking a toll on the common man’s financial stability, with many struggling to make ends meet.”
Referring to the state’s development plans, the MLA cited Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar’s statement, stating, “It is difficult to accumulate funds for developmental projects in the state. This shows the government’s neglect of the needs and welfare of the ordinary citizens.”
