Prioritise vaccination of students going abroad for studies, says Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru: Former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has said that students who will be going abroad for study in the next 2-3 months must be prioritised for vaccination as many countries and universities have stipulated that students should arrive only after anti-COVID-19 vaccination.
Tweeting about it he said:
It is that time of the year when thousands of young Kannadigas go abroad to study. Since many countries/universities have made COVID-19 vaccination mandatory before entering the country/campus, it is the govt’s duty to prioritize this group of youngsters for vaccination.

Some states like Maharashtra and Kerala have already taken measures to fully vaccinate (2 doses) this group on priority. I urge @CMofKarnataka and the Chief Secretary to take the necessary steps immediately to fully vaccinate the group on priority.

He also said that the State government must set up new COVID-19 vaccination centres.
I also urge the govt. to convert schools and colleges into vaccination centers. Currently, there is a chance of Covid transmission since vaccination is being done at the same hospitals where Covid+ patients are being treated.
