Prisoners relocated to renovated Hiriadka jail

Udupi: Nearly 67 prisoners lodged at the Karwar district jail were relocated to Hiriadka district jail under tight police security on Friday.
These jail inmates had been shifted to the Karwar prison in January 2018 owing to the renovation works undertaken at the Hiriadka district jail. Since the renovation works, costing Rs 65 lakhs are complete the prisoners who were relocated are being brought back to the prison at Hiriadka.
Jail superintendent Sanjay informed that undertrials of Udupi prison who are lodged at Mangaluru jail will be shifted to Hiriadka jail on Saturday and Sunday.
