Private bus leaves behind passenger: Ordered to pay compensation

Udupi: Consumer Court Judge Shobha C V has passed a judgment in against a private bus transport company for leaving behind a passenger. As per the sentencing, the bus company has been ordered to pay Rs 23,006 in compensation to the victim identified as Jude Angelo.
Case details
On Dec 16 2015, Jude Angelo had booked a bus ticket with Canara Pinto Travels to come to Udupi from Pune. Jude was asked in writing to come to a place named Stargate in front Hotel Nataraj in Pune which would be hi boarding point. Accordingly on the date of departure, Jude reached to the aforementioned location 30 minutes before the appointed time. He waited for quite some time well past the expected time of the bus arrival, but it never showed up. Hence, Jude enquired and was informed that the bus had departed from some other route.
However, Mr Angelo reached Udupi through other means and shared his experience with a relative R L Dais who is also the president of Railway Passengers Association. Through his help, a lawsuit was filed with the consumer court here.
Advocates Vishwanath S Shetty and A G Bhat argued in favour of the consumer.
