Bengaluru: Actor Priyanka Upendra quit Film Industry for Rights and Equality (FIRE) on Wednesday.
Priyanka was the president of FIRE and said that due to “ideological differences.” she will be quitting.
After actor Sruthi Hariharan accused actor Arjun Sarja of inappropriate and sexually conduct, he Central Reconciliation Committee (CRC) of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has decided to take up the issues.
Priyanka said that, she was unhappy the way Hariharan approached the media instead of addressing the issue to FIRE. “The platform to launch FIRE was used to highlight Ms. Hariharan’s issue, instead of presenting the larger perspectives of FIRE,” she said, adding she was “embarrassed” by the development. She is also upset with FIRE secretary Chetan Ahimhsa airing his personal ideological opinions “without the consent of members”.
