Bengaluru: Pro-Kannada activists have expressed ire against MLA Zameer Ahmed taking the oath as minister in English.

Zameer was among 8 ministers inducted into the state Cabinet on Saturday.

Taking to Twitter, activists expressed outrage over Zameer taking oath in English while other ministers took oath in Kannada.

“It’s a shame that Zameer Ahmed who took oath as minister in Siddaramaiah’s Cabinet has not learned Kannada,” said Karnataka Rakshana Vedike activist TA Narayana Gowda. Further, he questioned if it was right that Zameer, who has been active in state politics for many years hasn’t learned Kannada

Kannada activist Rupesh Rajanna said that national leaders are attempting to speak in Kannada but Zameer who was born and has been residing here cant take oath in the Kannada language.
