Project engineer walks into ACB trap, caught taking bribe

Mangaluru: A project engineer of Dakshina Kannada Zilla panchayat Integrated Rural Energy Programme was arrested on Wednesday, October 3 after being caught red-handed while accepting a bribe from a person here.

The arrested has been identified as N Nagesh. 

Acting on a complaint filed by an agency owner, who was asked to cough up a sum of Rs 50,000 by Nagesh to avail the biogas subsidy from the government, sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) laid a trap for the corrupt engineer.

Reportedly the agency owner had paid a sum of Rs 15,000 initially but Nagesh refused to release the subsidy amount till the balance Rs 35,000 was paid to him. 

On Wednesday, the ACB officials caught Nagesh while accepting the bribe of Rs 30,000 from the agency owner.

The operation was carried out by ACB SP Shruthi N S, DySP Sudheer M Hegde, inspector Yogish Kumar and others.
