Project to produce biodiesel from fish waste soon: Minister Angara

Udupi: Project for producing biodiesel from fish waste will be implemented from January next year, said Karnataka Minister for Fisheries, Ports, and Inland Transport S Angara on Monday.
Speaking to reporters here Angara said that the state government has been giving special emphasis to fish farming with an aim to make the state the number 1 state in fish production.
Further, a piece of land of the Fisheries Department in Mulki has been identified for installing the plant for biodiesel production, he added.
Efforts are underway for ensuring stable prices for fish products, he said.
commenting on the issue of non-supply of kerosene supply to traditional fishing boats, he said that the government is deliberating on finding a permanent solution to the issue. A possible solution to the problem will be announced in 2-3 days’ time, Angara said.
Speaking about the safety concerns raised about the Kemmannu suspension bridge, Angara said that information has been sought from the concerned officials about the condition of the bridge. Once the inputs are received, suitable corrective action will be taken, he said.
