Prostitution racket busted; 2 arrested, 3 women rescued

Mangaluru: A prostitution racket being conducted at an apartment in Nanthoor was busted by the economic and narcotic crime police in city on Wednesday April 3. Two persons were arrested during the raid and are identified as Ivan Cyril Pinto alias Pawan (35) resident of Modankap and Sathish Acharya (31) resident of Yeyyadi.

The operation was conducted after receiving credible information of the activity being operated at the apartment her through a website. Along with the arrest of the accused during the operation, three women from Uttar Pradesh and Orissa have been rescued.

The modus operandi of the accused was to upload the pictures of the girls on a website and to invite customers for prostitution at Star Legacy Apartment here.

The operation was conducted the economic and narcotic crime police inspector Ramakrishna K K and other police personnel. During the raid, mobile phones and Rs 23,000 in cash was seized from the accused.
